Okay folks, yet another stocking thread. Due to 'complications', my newly-formed German ram pair died. I won't go into the details, but suffice to say it had nothing to do with water quality. Anyways, I now have a little bit of space in my tank. I've got two Corydoras shoals already (six habrosus, and five septentrionalis), along with a bristlenose, six cardinal tetras, and seven lemon tetras. This is all in a 29 gallon, by the way.

Since my new employer () just got a bunch of different types of Corydoras in, I feel like getting a third cory shoal of say, six fish. If anyone has another idea, speak up!] Otherwise, I have a bunch of choices for the catfish. Hopefully you guys can help me narrow them down... The species that I am deciding between are:
C. brevirostris, C. davidsandsi, C. delphax, C. guapore, C. leopardus, C. melini, C. metae, C. pulcher (some variety of these), C. punctatus, C. schwartzi, and C. sodalis. The brevirostris and punctatus are cheaper than the rest, though cost really isn't an issue. Does anyone have any experiences with any of these, or can anyone just tell me which they like best? I don't care if you guys judge based on looks, because I will take them into consideration, too. Feel free to just look them up, see which you think looks coolest, and tell me. Any input is welcome here. I don't know which of these has the best personality and is the most active, but I'm looking for happy, constantly moving fish. Hopefully you folks can help me out.

I have C. punctatus and I absolutely love them. They are pretty active most of the time, and even when they are being lazy, they are still super cute. I definitely recommend them.
Strictly based on looks, my LFS has a couple of rarer species of cories and I think the C. Guapore are just about the neatest cories I have ever seen.
Just my 2 cents! I'm sure you'll love whatever you choose. I can't imagine having all those cories in one tank...must be pretty interesting looking!

I'm sorry to hear about your rams sirbrooks, I would hate to lose mine

I can't help you with any of the other cory types because I've never kept those but I do have 5 of the C. schwartzis and they're great! Mine are one of the least shy cories and are usually always buzzing around and they blend in with all the other cories nicely so I don't think you'd wouldn't be sorry if you picked these guys anyway

well i'd usually suggest other cats for a thread like this, but since you seem to like corys so much i'll go along with corys. i haven't had any of those corys but i really do like c. metae and i'd personally go for those, or schwartzi would be my second choice

Definitely go with the C. guapore.

Elegans-type species like that are among the most gregarious and amusing of all corys.

All right, an update. The sodalis, leopardus, and punctatus cories are out. There is only one each of the sodalis and leopardus left, and the punctatus aren't looking so good. A couple of them died today.
I have my eye on the guapore cories (they're so elegant!), and there are exactly six left. I may just get them if nobody buys any.

As for keyholes, those aren't an option. I've never seen any of them in a store around me, and I don't want to go through the hassle of ordering fish.

Get the guapore. Especially if they're cheap (as in under $5 each). Here in the UK they're a premium species, and cost around £8 each (that's $14 US - yeep).

Six guapore will be a *nice* shoal. I'm jealous of you already

If the six guapore cories are still there when I go back to work on Friday, I will definitely get them. They are $5 (U.S.) apiece, and three sell for $13, I believe. With my employee discount, I could get the six for around $19.50. Pretty good, right? They really look neat, I just hope that they are all healthy. I haven't had much time to observe them.
