Our store's managers (and whichever distributors ship fish to us) know nothing about Corydoras catfish. We got a few new shipments of cories in this week, and there're a bunch of screw-ups.

Firstly, a sick tank of C. davidsandsi was found to have a young C. elegans in it. The davidsandsi were also labeled as "Pulcher #2", an obviously incorrect designation.
I moved the elegans to where I can keep an eye on it, hopefully it will recover from whatever was killing the other fish in the tank.

A tank with some new C. habrosus had a baby C. septentrionalis (I was overjoyed!:%) A great find, barely bigger than the largest habrosus, and a steal at $1.99.) in it, and also had some "Pulcher #2". I finally got a correct i.d. on these "pulchers"- they're C. ambiacus, I believe.

Lastly, we got a big batch of "C. davidsoni". They're nothing like C. davidsandsi, and I know there's no such thing as C. davidsoni. They look like a mixed shipment of C. agasizzi and C. ambiacus to me.

Plus of course, our C. trilineatus are mislabled as C. julii.

Trouble is, the management is loath to change any of these names. I'm going to try my hardest to fix the errors today, but I'll probably have no luck. I just wish that they'd be more receptive, you know? Oh well, I'm done complaining. Say anything you want, if you want.

Ah, what it must be like to be able to snap up such mis-labelled bargains eh Sirbooks?

Only thing is, if they were labelled correctly, the price would proabbly quadruple in an instant.

Jeez it would be nice to find some deals like that:%)

Now on the other hand if you don't know what you are getting you could end up with one messed up tank:%)

It looks like there was a mess up at shipping, and your company is just refusing to let you fix things how they should be:%)oh well their loss and your gain

Ooo... I just got one lonely cory mislabelled as agassizii, which I believe is ambiacus... *snatches a few from your store* *coughs*

I do think it's rather stupid that they don't want to change the names. As was mentioned, you could probably charge a lot more on some of the rarer types.

Although... I've gained from mislabellings, too... got a san juan cory for pygmy price... and that was a whole $2.39... I've NEVER paid that little for a cory before.

Nope, they wouldn't change the labels. It's annoying to me, but everybody else is just happily unaware of the goof-ups. I swear, none of my customers or coworkers know the slightest thing about cories.

I feel like I've saved the elegans. As I already noted, it was sick when I discovered it, and in a sick tank. I moved it to where I could keep a better eye on it, in a tank with healthy fish. The cory had fully recovered by this morning, and I showed him (male because of its patterning) to a catfish-loving coworker. She took him home tonight, to join some of her other cories. I'm glad I noticed the C. elegans and C. septentrionalis cories, 'cause they've both found good homes.
