I have noticed that my cories like flakes on the bottom better than the little pellets. I wonder if there is any flakes made for cories or other bottom feeders.

What type of flakes do they like at the bottom of the tank, fish flakes? I know my corries won't eat the shrimp pellets till they have "dissolved" and are mushy. As far as Algae Wafers go, try some Hikari wafersmy corries go ape over them As far as actual flakes for corries I don't think there really are any, but your corries will scavenge anything and everything left on the gravel...heidi

Flakes tend to be easier to eat than pellets, so the corys are going to go after them first.

I deliberately soak flakes and similar foods so that they fall to the bottom of the breeding aquarium for Lady Emma Hamilton and the Three Musketeers (my second generation Pandas). Their offspring (see recent Photo Booth thread!) have also discovered that i do this, and now join the parents at feeding time.

They know when I'm doing this because I waggle my fingers in the water to help the flakes soak up moisture and sink. Doesn't matter where they are in the aquarium, even if they're hiding behind the big lump of art deco bogwood and its forest of Java Moss, they come scuttling out thinking to themselves "Daddy's putting food in again! Yay!" and before you know it, I have a gaggle of Pandas chomping away at the front.

The absolute favourites among the flake type foods with my Pandas have to be the Tetra Pro discs that I've been road testing. They have a particular fondness for the TetraPro colour, but also go nuts over the TetraPro Vegetable Flakes, which despite containing spirulina algae, also contain fish and krill meal, which explains their fondness for them!

Oh, and I break my Hikari wafers into small pieces for them, which makes them [1] more manageable (the 'push hockey' antics are hilarious to behold when they get a sniff of the taste of those with their barbels) and [2] allows them to absorb water more easily. The Hikari pieces are soon subject to assiduous probing and other attentions once the Pandas discover them

as a general rule flakes float and so arent really specifically for bottom feeders. lol. if u want flakes for ur cories then just find the ones with the ingredients that most closely match your pellets. this usually means high in shrimp, squid and fish meal. at any rate its easy to get the flakes onto the bottom for them. simply put some tank water into a cup, place the flakes in there with them and swirl until the flakes get caught up in the vortex. whilst the water is still swirling, pour it quickly into the tank. i like this method because it means that there's no left over flakes sitting in the cup to clean out.

My Corydoras eat lots of Flakes that finish on the bottom. I have 25 of them & so 25 hungry little mouths.

As I type this I have two aquaria full of nutty Pandas beetling about the gravel beds looking for the food I've just dropped in ... and judging by the smiles on their faces, they like what I've fed them

A quick glance over my shoulder and yes, Mata Hari and the boys are jockeying for position with the Otocinclus, who come out looking for tasty bits and pieces too as a supplement to their algae salads.
