I have I think 9 or 10 corys in my 29 gallon and one of them seems not to be growing as much as the others.

The other tankmates are an Angelfish, african butterflyfish and a rapheal catfish.

The one that is like this is a peppered one, I do know for a fact that there is only one peppered in there....Could that be the problem???

There is also albino and bronze.

What's the deal????? Anyone?

I think that Albino & Bronze grow bigger than Peppered.
How much of each do you have?. Corydoras like to stay in schools of at least 6 from the same type.

How long have you had your corys? My peppered corys don't grow as fast as some of the other ones (e.g. c. Trilineatus) even though they eat just as much (or even more because my peppereds like to eat on the surface of the water too!). My cory metae grow even slower than the peppered, so I think different cory species just grow at different rates. I wouldn't worry about it, unless he's not eating/listless.

I have had them for about 9 to 10 months now,and he seems to be eating all the time but is almost the same size as when I got him. =\

I'm hoping that its not because I don't have all the same corys, seeing they are all rescues

If that is the problem there isnt any room for more is there???

Thanks for the help

As with all animals, some just grow faster than others. If he is eating, I wouldn't worry about it.

If he's healthy, inquisitive and bustling around the aquarium, I wouldn't worry unduly about the apparently slow growth. Don't forget that Corys can live for 15 years if well cared for, and some beyond that. If he was already adult when you got him, but lived in cramped quarters as a juvenile, that could be an explanation also.

Time to worry if he starts looking listless and dejected, and his fins start fraying. Then it's fish hospital time.

Try dropping in a big batch of live Bloodworm twice a week. See if that starts a growth spurt. You'd be amazed what live food can do for a fish.

I wouldn't worry, either, especially if your peppered cory is a male. The size differential can be significant.

Thanks everyone!!!

I think its just slow growth as was said seeing he was a baby when I got him.

He already gets live food quite a bit I would hate to see if he didn't!!

Thanks!!
