Joe Potato Fish Addict Kind of a Big Deal Posts: 869 Votes: 309 Registered: 09-Jan-2001 | I have some pygmys. Granted, I've only had them about 3 weeks or so. Anyway, I've noticed that they are just as active as the other common corys. They have a reputation of being mid-water swimmers, and while mine do spend a little time off the bottom, it was not as much as I expected. However, this could be due to not having any kind of mid-water schooler like a tetra or rasbora for them to be with. If I recall correctly, these guys are often intermixed with some sort of characin in the wild. They also have a reputation for being touchy, chemistry-wise. I can tell you that they don't much mind where your pH and hardness levels are. My pH is up around 8 with a moderately-high hardness, and they seem to be quite happy. Not sure about how they react to nitrogen compounds, but then again you shouldn't really be testing them on that anyway! I guess the most important point is that they are as cute as all get-out. |
