Hey all.

I have two peppered corys that Ive owned for nearly a year...

Been watching them yesterday and today and they're acting really strangely. They're both going up and down the glass, almost like theyre cleaning it..... could they be preparing to lay eggs? Would they both do this or just the female?

Thanks!

Have recently bought some more but they're in my new Trigon 190 tank ;-) and are only about 2 months old.... once these two are transferred to the new tank too, I'll have 5 peppered and 3 unknown corys (im told they're called Rio Negro Corydora but I cant find any reference to these whatsoever. They look similar to Schwartzi)

Well, my thoughts were right...... the corys have started laying eggs around the tank. Sadly, I cant get to them before the danios and tetras get a free feed.... :-(

Well, those tetras and danios must have enjoyed that.

Unfortunately, you probably wouldn't have been able to rescue the eggs anyway. Some people have been able to move them with a credit card or something similar into a grow out tank or fry tank, but most of the time if they're laid in the community tank they won't make it. If you're interested in breeding them, you will prolly have to put them in a different tank, because rescuing the eggs is hard to do. >.<
