One morning i woke up and stared at my 10 gallon on my desk, like i do every morning. All of a sudden i saw my baby common pleco floating at the top of the water upside down. I slowly got my fish net and was ready to take him out. When i lifted the cover to the tank it made sort of a cracking noise and all of a sudden the baby pleco...( about almost one inch )...darted down to his territory, or his rock. I thought that i was still asleep. I couldnt believe it! Is there an explination for this?...o ya he does it every once and a while....TIA

Dont have a cow iam going to give him back to the lfs when he gets about inches.

The only time I have ever seen this was at work, in a tank that was being treated for disease. Some of the plecos inside were dying, and others were sick. There were a couple yesterday that were acting exactly as you described, and fled when touched. Check your pleco to see if anything looks wrong with it, or if the fish acts lethargic or 'funny'. It there is a problem, then you've got to get a handle on it.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

He seems ok, but his stomach does seem a little bloated when he's up against the glass. Other tan that his behavior is normal and he is constaltly moving from place to place...so?

Wouldnt floating at the top and then diving be considered funny?

MINE DO THAT TOO!!!!!

I have three common Plecos, and one out of the three do this!!

It does not look like he's dead or sleeping he goes to the top of the water level and "sucks" right on the top he will also come slightly out of the water to do this, another time I cought him right out of the water!!!!! At the very top where the lid is.

I hope hes not crazy, or maybe...hmm....not dissabled..maybe a slight retardation

I don't know what this is but if anyone could help it would be great!!

uh-oh I hope he doesn't die then, I doubt it I rescued him from a tank hell, he only had half a tail and big cuts down his body. Hes looking great now, I thought it may be him just having fun..because of the new surroundings.

I hope he's fine =p

I'm thinking that it might not have anything to do with dieing, I have this Pleco for quite a while I think if it was a warning sign he would have died already.

My Plec did this when he was in the 15g, when I moved him to the 55g I never saw him do it. Well he went back to store eventually after attacking the Eel but he was fine until he one day went home with somone else, hope he still lives on
