Hi, I think this has been discussed before and so pardon me for asking again.

Is it ok to keep different cories together to the extend that there may be only one kind for some. I have 6 cories but of 4 different type (2 bronze, 1 albino, 1 Aldofo, 1 which I dunno the name and 1 spotted). They looked ok to me, but sometimes they are loners and does not mix around, esp the Aldofo cory. But they still get together at feeding time but not the Aldofo cory.

You should have cories in schools of 6 or more. That means 1 species. It would be better for the cories if you returned all but your favorite kind and got more of that 1 kind.

Cories of different species will not school together if they have a school of their own. In your case they don't even school when they don't have enough others.

EDIT: Welcome to FP!!

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

I agree with Janna. Cories school by sight, meaning that none of the four species you have will school with each other. Start over with just one species of cory, and that way they will school.

I disagree...I have 12 Cory's with 10 different species...but most of the time they still school..and feeding time is an absolute meeting period for all of them. So I dun think different cory's will matter, as long as there are 6 or more

I have about 3 or 4 different cory species in my tank, and they school.

Their at all different maturity ages also (15 being the oldest, 7 being the youngest)

Corydoras of the same species will school together & different Corydoras don't. It's better to have 6 Corydoras of the same type, than 6 different ones.

Cories sometimes school with other cories out of fear and stress if they don't have enough of a school. If you get more so that there are at least 6 of each kind, the cories will no longer associate with each other. I have experienced this first hand with the cories in my 55 gallon.

Thanks for all your replies. I think I agres with Janna. Checked with a friend of mine. He has some cories but only of a kind (albino cory). He has 6 of them and he told that they mind their own business and does not actually school.
