I'm feeding the Dojo Loaches TubiFex worms or at least I'm trying to but they don't seem to be eating them I put a cube in the tank last night and found it floating around the top this morning. What should I do?

I have a small Dojo loach and I put the tubifex worms in from time to time (some of my other fish like it) but I've only seen it eat at it like one time. What mine REALLY REALLY likes is the Wardley Shrimp pellets and the Nutrafin Max Sinking Complete food tablets for bottom feeders. He just goes nuts over these two items. You should try it out!

Edit: (He seriously gets excited and totally chows down immediately when I put this food in. I am just sure to feed at the same time each day and drop them in the same place in the tank, he has gotten into this routine and is waiting to be fed everyday at the same time.)

Mine were like that at first, but now they attack any fish that tries to get a bite. Meanies.

weather loaches are primarily bottom feeders.
The problem with the tubifex worms in cubes is that they float.
Heres what I do,
Take the cube in your two fingers and thumb, and slowly press it together in the water on the sides n allow it to expand and get water logged, then roll it between your fingers until the worms start to come loose and fall to the bottom. Continue until the whole cube has been broken apart.
Good luck! Tubifex cubes are irritating, but the fish like em if you break it up for em!

I have a simple way of getting them to sink: Take a rubberband and secure them to a small rock.

Weather loaches feed at all levels, it depends on where their next meal is hanging around.

shrimp pellets are really little...why only 4-5?

I sink about 30 shrimp pellets, 1 broken algae wafer, and a few veggie flakes into my 29g tank each day to feed 11 cories, 1 dojo loach, 2 hillstream loaches, 5 ottos, 2 ghost shrimp, 1 swardtail, 2 neon tetras, and 3 danios...the surface/ middle feeders catch their meals as it falls, or pick it off the bottom... my dojo loach eats about 1/4 of everything...

yes, i know my tank is overstocked (i'm getting 6 more neon tetras and 5 more cories too) but it's heavily planted and way over filtered (plants absorb most of the nitrates allowing me to overstock), i do regular waterchanges and take care of everybody. I have loads of plants (20' of anacharis (elodea), 3' of hornwort, 20' of pothos, 2 large aponogetons, and 4 dwarf lillies. the plants grow a total of 3 feet every week, so that keeps nitrAtes down to about 20 ppm w/out waterchanges...i do waterchanges and keep them a bit lower )

Unless you have a bunch of bottom feeders, I would not add 30 pellets. They are small but I usually drop about 10 shrimp pellets and two of those nutrafin bottom feeder tabs.

You are just going to have to decide what is best for your lil fishies by experimenting at first to see how much they can eat.

How many bottom feeders do you have? How big are they?

I only have 2 Dojo loaches a Pleco and 2 Otto's the Pleco will come over and eat the pellets and so do the Otto's I put a alge tablet in with the 10 pellets and they usually don't come looking for food again until it's dinner time.
