My large Dojo Loaches are very large, I doubt any Oscar would try eating them. Besides Dojos are very very fast. A full grown Dojo will easily reach a foot in length, and if fed Enough (the key here) a Dojo loach should NOT be thin by any means. My Dojos are both about 1.5 inches tall from belly to back, and equally as thick through, and 7 and 9 inches long. If your Dojo is "thin" you should feed him more. I would say if the Oscar is small, and the Dojos are big, you could do it. And Dojos are very tolerant species, I keep mine with tropical fish in 84F water. The oscar is not generally aggressive and will only eat things that will fit in it's mouth. Even if the dojo was small enough to fit, I doubt the oscar would be able to catch it. If you have substrate that the dojo can burrow in then they spend a lot of time burrowing anyway. I have kept them together with no problems. Anytime I see anything try to pick on a dojo, they try to slash their barbels at them in defense which usually hinders the other fish (I have seen this also with large severums and my large dojo as well). I agree that the temperature differences are not necessarily a prime condition for either fish. Dojo's generally are supposed to have much colder water than your regular tropical fish, whereas your oscar should have warmer temps. The dojo can live just fine in the warmer temperatures, they just say it will shorten their life span if they are kept in higher temps. Good luck! ![]() |

MONKEYS ARE COOL, BUT SEA-MONKEYS ARE BETTER. |
