The best option for a final fish to compleet my Laos biotope (when it's finally finished) is Garra Cambodgiensis (previously known as g. taeniata).
Since they resemble Flying Foxes quit a lot and seem to be food competitors, I was wondering if anyone had any experience keepring the two together.
I'm afraid they might get into a constat state of war with each other ...

Hi,
I have a Garra Cambodgiensis. Thanks to you I now know what species my fish is!
Well, I dont keep mine with flying foxes, but I keep him with a rainbow shark, and siamese algae eaters, and he is peaceful and none of them show any notice of each other whatsoever.
I think you would probably be fine as long as the tank is large enough for both fish to determine their own territories (55g or larger).

Thanks Pete!

I think a rainbow shark is a good comparison with a flying fox when it comes to behaviour.

Actually, my tank is a 152 gal, so size won't be the problem. I was thinking of getting 5, since I read that in the wild they live in schools. I've created two different caves, on either side of the tank, so they should all be fine.

T.

Hi Tinfoil,
That sounds great.
I have often wondered if my Garra needs friends.
He hangs out with the Rainbow Shark and espescially
with the SAE's a lot.
He seems lonely.
Perhaps a friend is in order for him.
What do u think?

I defninitely think you need to get him 2 or more friends.
On the other hand ...
I bought one last Saturday that someone "dumped" at my LFS.
He's missing his right gill cover, but seems to be fine with it.
When I put it in the tank, it disappeared in the cave where the flying fox and spotted algea eater (CAE-cousin) live and I've never seen him since
At my LFS he was out there swimming all the time!
I hope I get to see him again someday
The good thing is: they haven't been fighting at all!
(It's just that the cave is starting to get crowded by now ...)
