So are these simply a geographical variant of the regular Corydoras elegans or are they a bona fide new species?

Either way, they're lovely Corys. Thumbs up cory_Addict for finding these and adding them to your collection!

It would be interesting to watch them breed. Corydoras elegans is notable for being the only Corydoras species thus far that does NOT adopt the "T" position, and if these fishes DO adopt the "T" position when breeding, that will be a VERY strong indicator that you're dealing with a new species!

I'm not sure if they are considered their own species or not. I presume they are, because in a addition to the gold stripes, the dark stripes differ from Corydoras elegans as well.

Ian Fuller has already bred the Gold Line Elegans. It might be worth emailing him about their behhavior when spawning if you are curious.
