I dont know very much about them..i think they are semi-aggressive. But will 2-4 of this be ok with some zebra plecos? |

While I've never kept them I have heard numerous horror stories about them. They can be very aggressive to other fish and don't like their own kind that much either. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

They are really not a good algae eater. They also get aggressive, and have been known to suck onto fish and kill them. I wouldnt get those fish, and if you did get your money back. I can recommend some interesting algae eaters for you that would be fine in your tank: Farlowella Catfish (also known as twig cat) BN Catfish Ottos Siamese Algae Eaters Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

Suitable tankmates are somewhat limited to small, schooling, and larger, slow moving fish. They also tend to be somewhat short lived in the home aquaria. You are much better off adding the zebras first, as it does take some time before they become established and commence feeding. Gyrinocheilus sp. are great algae eaters and detritus clearing fish in general. Despite previous assertions, they will continue to consume algae throughout their entire lives. However, they are quite quarrelsome, large (7" in the home aquaria, usually) and will not appreciate your hypancistri. Last edited by Cup_of_Lifenoodles at 24-Apr-2005 11:58 |
