I've had my share of oto's dying on me, but can anyone shed some light on the following situation?

I recently bought 3 oto's for my tank. There is still one surviving oto from a couple of months back in the tank. I figured that having some companions might brighten up my one oto's day. It doesn't seem to be the case-the opposite seems to be happening. My old oto is hanging out by himself and worst of all, not eating. On the second night since introducing the new ones into the tank, I noticed that there were some red streaks around my old one's caudal fins. Do you suppose the new ones fought with him or bullied him? The tank conditions seem to be fine as my old oto, having survived any intitial problems, has been happily living in my tank for close to half a year.

Any suggestions for how to get him eating again? I'd hate to see him go. The new ones are full of pep and I find it horribly ironic that introducing some new mates to my lonely one is actually not making him happy.

It's the middle of the night over here so I figure some of you oto lovers across the pond are awake and have some suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

What I would do is observe your ottos, and see if they do indeed seem to be incompatible. (new vs. old) Ottos are schooling fish, so one would assume that they would get along just fine. As for the feeding, you might try separating the old otto from the others, and see if it will eat while it is by itself.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."
