Cool lookin fish though.. almost like a lil stingray.. thnks for any info u can provide!! -CJ |

As for size, it really depends on the species of the hillstream you are looking at, but for the most part, they stay under 4 inches. Feeding is relatively simple: make sure there is an ample supply of algae. They don't eat the algae all that much, but they eat on little critters, called aufwuchs, that live in the algae. Sinking pellets may also be accepted. Additionally, a current should be provided, as they seem to thrive in this set-up. The water should be well-oxygenated. Most hillstreams commonly available in the hobby are from the genera Beaufortia and Gastromyzon. This article should give you a lot of the general information you seek.
