This is just a rough guess, but I'de say 4-6 full grown, 6 being a bit on the high side. Mind you I've never kept kuhli's so I couldn't say for sure, thats just my gut instinct.

All my tanks are babied water change wise, whenever I'm bored, I do small water changes on top of 25% weekly water changes.

The more cover you have for them, the more you can keep. I would say as many as 10, if you feed lightly, are diligent with the water changes, filter well (rinse your filters anytime you do a water change!), and regularly supplement your biofilter (NICycle).

Good Luck!

You can add the space they can occupy by adding some wood and attaching java fern there. They like a thicket of that in my aquarium and higher parts of the tank are in better use for your fish. More than 3 and no more than 10 seems to be good number.

10?? i think that's a bit over stocked even with regular water changes. what about surface area? 40" of fish in a ten gallon tank? eek.

That's 40" of fish that are skinnier than neons and about the same width as my plec's poo. I say 10 is okay, but that's my opinion.
