arent those the loaches that stay small


Not necessarily. One of the most popular botias is the clown loach; they can reach 9-12" depending on your source of info

There are a number of other botias that grow to 6"+ as well.

At some point I'd like to set up a separate aquarium for Botia species. Botia loaches are among my "oh, I'd like to try a brace of different species" fishes - when I win the Lottery:

They don't seem to be as popular as cories but I really like loaches

I currently have:

3x Pangio kuhlii (kuhli)

3x Pangio javanicus (black kuhli)

6x Botia sidthimunki (dwarf)

2x Botia dario (queen)

Back when I was a teenager, I once kept Botia horae. Nice little fellows they were too. Trouble is, they seemed a bit delicate. And shy.
