ok, i really dont know what is up with it, but it has always been different than the others.

It doesnt have good color at all, it is pretty pale, and its tail is very wierd, the bottom is short, and rounded, while the top is long and pointy, i have never seen a clown look like this, but it is very wierd, it also doesnt seem to be growing either, the other 2 loaches I purchased with it are much bigger... did i just get a dumb loach or something?

oh yea, and i forgot, he also NEVER stops moving, he is CONSTANTLY "hovering" over the gravel

CL's will often change color intensity to show dominance. Since he is the paler one, he is most likely the less dominant one. This could also explain why he is so small. IME the more dominant loaches will often steal food from the less dominant loaches and chase them away during feeding time, thus, the less dominant loaches will grow slower. Also, being very intelligent fish, each CL will often have their own personality. My CL's are very boring and sleep a lot of the time, but i have noticed that my grandfather's CL's are very hyper and rarely ever touch the gravel. I don't know how to explain the caudal fin, but is it possible that the bottom part was bitten off and is now growing back?

The fin was probably bitten off long before
you ever got the fish.
Its just grown back funny.
Its also possible that it could have a genetic
abnormality, which explains why it wont grow.
Also, keep them in mind that if they arent
in a large enough tank they will become stunted.

it was fine when it was little, it has grown a bit, not much though.

i saw a website with "short bodied" clown loaches, and i think this may be one of those

"short bodied clown loaches",
are actually loaches that have been purposefully
stunted to stay small, just so you know.

Did you by any chance see the short-bodied clown loach here?-http://loaches.com/species_pages/botia_macracanthus_short.html
The author of the article states that it a variety of CL, although I agree with So Very Sneaky that it probably has been stunted.

Hey there,
its probably just a genetic disorder.
Maybe this guy was the runt of the litter kind
of thing and has issues because of it.
So long as hes happy and healthy, he should be fine.

yeah.

it is healthy, and i assume happy.

I get attached to my fish, but if I didnt, i would take it back to the store, it is so ugly, to be quite honest, I cant stand looking at it.

Now that's not very nice I would think that it would be cool to have a fish that is unique and different.
