OK last night after feeding everyone in the 125, I got to think again, that I can never get a complete head count on the C. Hasbrosus, why don't I just gather them up and put them in the 20 with the guppies...Sounds good right

So here I go baggy in a glass, with water, net in hand, hand and elbow in water waiting...Slow but sure I gather them...One, ok little guy in the baggy, two, you're fine little guy, three, it's ok, you have friends, come on number four, here we go, and five really I promise you'll like this new home"

Well, then I thought I saw something on the glass of the tank, and went to wipe it away, but it didn't wipe off...I looked really closely, hmmm another Hasbrosus...he looks rather tiny...

"HOLY COW!!! That isn't a Hasbrosus, what the flip? OH it can't be, OH YES it is!!!" My poor neighbors I was squealing and hollering...and then bang it was gone, but here was another one a tad bigger! And there is another one a tad smaller! All in all I think I counted maybe 5, but at least 3...I was so thrilled I could have started calling everyone, but I didn't so some of ya'll got off easy...

So without further ado, here is one of my newest babies *giggling wildly* (sorry of all nights to leave my camera at Leslie's, these are with the camera phone

And one more for the record...

Just to help ya'll who think, ok those who know I'm crazy, middle of the picture toward the bottom, redish round rock against the glass...ok go just above that, grayish/whitish/black spotted...that's it

Side note: I don't know if they are are metae or Hasbrosus. I doubt that they are Albino (they have color), Agazzis (haven't been in there but a week), Narcissus (I think that is what the other guy isonly one of them)...I'm so excited, I was literally squealing in Leslie's ear this morning--Sorry Leslie

Congrats! How cute! I did have a hard time spotting it at first, but found the little guy.

Oh that's so exciting! Congrats

I totally understand the feeling First time I saw platy fry I was thrilled, then eggs from cories (although that didn't work out ), and now fry from my cichlids. I'm thrilled every time, seeing things like mom moving the babies in her mouth...it's amazing and I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.

Post more pics if you get any, silly little things like to hide in the gravel

Oh trust me Theresa I squeal with delight just for guppy fry...But, this seemed something so totally different, and I'm still squealing about itTonight I'll be sure to have my camera and find the silly guys again, and get some more better pictures Any idea how old they would be? I know I noticed some spawning, I think last weekend, or the middle of the week before last...but I know that doesn't mean they have to have my attention and permission to spawn...

To my best guestimate of measurement this they are 0.7-0.8 cm long and maybe 0.2-0.3 cm wide...like I said it's just a guestimate.

The first one I noticed seemed to be getting brave and coming towards the area of the tank where I generally drop the shrimp pellets, algae wafers, and blood worms (depending on the day). How worried should I be about trying to catch them? Should I be sure to add anything special to the tank as far as food goes? I'm so excited and thrilled at the same time...any advice...

Oh did I mention that my Endler's Livebearers had fry also last night talk about a great weekend hml

Yes, I can vouch for her squealing in my ears this morning. I hope that this is just the beginning of many more. Fecund cories....sure sign that something is right in that tank. /:'

Again, I'm sorry Leslie...I was still so excited

I sat there and stared and stared and stared this afternoon, and guess what I finally found one of them And the one I found I can tell what type they are....

[drum roll] and they would be.....metae.....[/drum roll]

Yes, I could see the little black eye bandit patches, and the tiniest black stripe down its spineWell, I took 3 pictures this afternoon, one I won't bother posting...I guess I was bouncing when I took itThe other two were taken about 4 hours ago, and well...here is how it goes...remember "Where's Waldo?", well this will be similar..."Where's the metae Fry?" I know he is in both of these pictures, but I can't remember where, and well I can't find him nowso when you find him, would you be kind enough to give directions of where you found him? I know it's close to the plants and in the gravel, other than that:%)Good luck, heidi

Heh heh heh.

Looks like someone else is going to be having fun giving running commentaries on Cory spawnings in the chat room apart from me

Congratulations Heidi, nice work. When you get a definitive ID on the little fellow, post more info. Only with the mass of Corys you have, you could have habrosus or metae fry. And at 8mm or thereabouts, they take a bit of telling apart I should imagine. Usually, Cory fry don't develop full adult colouration until they hit about 10 to 12 weeks, depending upon species.

This is going to be fun. All we need now is a double bill ... my Pandas and Heidi's Cory menagerie all spawning like mad at the same time

Now that I've been thinking, wasn't there a full moon recently? That usually has an effect on fish spawning.

Congrats again

Doesn't seem to matter with Mata Hari Theresa

She'll hitch her petticoats for the boys and start spawning twice a week sometimes. And spend five hours at a time doing so. Makes me exhausted just watching the Pandas when they start zipping all over the tank and engaging in rubgy scrums

Cali, you know what I could say about Mata Haribut, my girl(s?) aren't that way They would never just hitch up their skirts in front of meok mine have given wearing skirts

But, really as much excitement as I'm having over the fry, I don't think I'm ready for them to be dropping eggs and having fry more often than my guppies, yet

Besides that, I'm also thinking that I need to go home and catch one of my Yellow Labs in the 55, and force her to spit out her fry, she is holding, she is just beginning to look awfully thin

**Goes to measure space to see if there is enough room for another 4 tier stand, to have as a nursery**
