During a period of illness, my Panda Corys sadly went to the great fish tank in the sky, and consequently, I've been on the lookout for something a little less 'high maintenance' as a replacement. So, yesterday, I went out shopping ...

... and came back with six loaches!!!

The loaches in question are interesting ones. Namely these guys ...

The good news is that this species stays small - 2.5 inches max. So I can keep a shoal of six in what was formerly the Panda Fun Palace without any problems. However, these guys are frantically active!

To illustrate this, I shot two video clips of them in action. Enjoy!

Well, these guys have bedded in very nicely into my aquarium ...

In fact, they've settled in so well that they put on a completely berserk display at feeding time ... instead of waiting for the food to reach the bottom, they're up at the top pushing the Platies out of the way the moment the food hits the water!

Anyone else have loaches that do this?

Mine must really love the food I'm giving them, because even if I feed the fish 5 times a day, they're up there in an instant - the moment they detect that I'm hovering in front of the aquarium with the food, it's total madness ... for those who are [1] old enough to remember this, and [2] saw the requisite children's programme on UK television, they're like the woofumpuss on Vision On ...
