OK I went and picked up the 75 gallon tank today...the drive up there wasn't all that bad, and the weather was good to me coming home, only a few drops of rain

When I got up there I knew there would be 3 plecos to go with the tan, he didn't want them and was more than happy for me to take them as wellhe figured I'd just leave them in the bottom of the tank on theway home, with 2-3 inches of waterI was prepared though and had taken one of my numerous fish buckets with me...If I knew what I was walking into I would have also at least taken a gravel vaccume or the hosing at least, as well as a net (No he didn't have eithercatching the guys was interesting to say the leastand he was slightly scared of them)

According to him he had a 6 inch pleco, and 2 that were about 3-4 inches, since I didn't really plan on keeping them I figured I'd stop at the lfs on the way home and get fish food in exchange. Well, one was a common plecohe was close to 10 inches or so...just a little bigger than 6 The other two on first spotting them I knew what they were, or was almost 100% sure I knew They were closer to 6 inches and are full grown The little boy has a nice bristly beard, and his girlfriend/wife has a few bristles herself Yes, the are BNand fully grown I'm figuring at 5-6 inches

The lfs took the common, though the owner kept trying to tell me I should keep him, and sell her the BNanyways the tank is now setup in Leslie's livingroom, the common is at the lfs, the 2 BN are already in the tank (I know the tank should be cycled, but considering what they have been living in, I figure they will be fineThey were just in the tank without aeration or any filtration, with a small water change 2x a week or so)

Just thought I'd share my good fortune, I'm hoping for babies once everything gets settled in goodheidi

I was hoping to put my albino BN pair in there, but if Heidi doesn't remove the other ones soon, I may go by dog's law. If it is in my house and I want it, it is mine. Unless a bigger, meaner dog wants to fight for it.

Anyways that 75g is in my livingroom cause Heidi couldn't figure out where to put it. Question, could you put more than one pair of Bn in a 75g or is it best to leave just a pair per tank?

I hope you're going to try & breed them. 2 lovely fully grown BN in a 75 gal. tank. Give them a try with some Driftwood & hiding places. You'll see some chasing, but in the end you'll be rewarded.

Yep, we are planning on breeding. Going to go get some pvc pipes for hiding places, have some drift wood that needs to be anchored down, and zuchinni. It is obvious that they are mature, but do they ever get too old to breed?

Maybe at the end of their natural lifespan. Cory catfish do get too old to breed, but that takes a while to happen since they live so long. Ancistrus plecos don't have quite as long a lifespan (maybe around fifteen years average?), but I'm sure that they can continue to produce offspring up until the last few years.

You could be right Sirbooks, who knows how old they are. I do have a younger albino BN pair that I would like to try to breed, but right now the older, bigger pair are in my 75g.
