Imperial pleco AKA Zebra Pleco. | |
Zix Stix Fingerling Posts: 16 Kudos: 7 Votes: 4 Registered: 26-Sep-2007 | hi everyone. I was just looking through different plecostomus pictures, and I found this Imperial Pleco. It looked really cool, and I was wondering if anyone has kept them before? And i was thinking when I get my 100+ US Gallon tank, that i might buy 2 of those for it. They only reach 4" in length and they are canivorous. They wont eat other fish though unless they are bothering them. I was just wondering if 2 of them would be enough to clean the algae of the glass. I knwo they need some meat in their diet, so I would supply them with brine shrimp or some cichlid pellets. I was also wondering how much roughy they would sell for because i have seen other plecos sell for over 100$ at my LFS. If anyone has any info on them, please let me know. Thank you. Cheers, ~Zix Stix~ |

Expect to pay a little more than that in Canada. They won't touch any algae in your tank as they are strict carnivores. As a matter of a fact 2 of them in such a large tank would IME be a waste as the fish will seem to get lost and you will probably rarely ever see it. IMHO that would be a waste of such a prized pleco.
