I was in one of my LFS today and they had gotten in a fish that I have never seen before. The guy that worked there called it an "indian sun catfish".To best describe it,it looks like an iredescent shark except its sort of an off yellow color with a black dot on its side. I did a search of the internet and came up empty. Does anyone else happen to know anything about this fish? Or even what else it might be called.
Thanks

Toirtis is right. Sun cats go by so many different common names: Bullseye Catfish, Golden Red Tail Catfish, Solar Catfish, Sun Catfish...so it is pretty easy to confuse them.

For the most part, these catfish are peaceful towards other fish, but will eat anything it can fit in it's mouth. A good quality sinking shrimp pellet, supplemented with tropical fish flakes, blood worms, krill, algae wafers, and just about anything else made for fish consumption will be greedily eaten. I've read they get to be about 16 inches, and i had mine ever since they were 2 inches each and died when they were about 9 inches, so i never got to see them fully grown.

other than that, they aren't too hard to keep...pretty undemanding and like most catfish, they come out mainly at night... but will venture out during the day for food.

Yeah, not a bad fish... If you're keeping large cichlids or something of that sort. This fish eats a heck of a lot and ain't suited to be kept with other smaller, slower species. I had to separate mine from my plec or my precious royal would've plumb starved to death.
