OK here is a question I could use some help with

I have this nice chunk of driftwood formation in my 125. It apparently has a nice empty hiding hole inside as I've seen one of my guys/gals whatever the loony toon is slither his rather fat self into the log top down, usually I only see the end of him and then bang he's gone...

Well, to treat my tank for the flipping leeches (I've two different varieties]:|) I've got to remove my clowns and probably the corries as well

The meds I've been told will work in this before I yank everything out and do salt bathes and suicide for myself, is General Cure for Parasite Treatment it contains 125 mg metronidazole, 13 mg Copper Sulfate, and 8 mg Trichlorfon per capsule. And each capsule treats 10 gallons...I was told that the dose of 8 capsuls should take care of the leech problem...

So what do I do about doufus the driftwood lover? I know I can't leave him in there...All I can figure is to pull out the driftwood piece and put it straight into the 29 gallon, making sure that there isn't anything on it...the leeches tend to hang on another side of the tank in the gravel...What should I do? I've tried wiggling the piece and making the guy uncomfortable but he just is stubborn and hardheaded about not coming out of his sleeping hole...

HELP!!!! heidi

EDIT: Ok fixing to be thrown from the computer again...any suggestions call me if you have the number I guess *shrug* don't know how long I'll have to wait to get back online]:| hml

Maybe lure the fish out with food (clown loaches can't resist food), pull the driftwood without the loach out of the tank quickly, and set it on a towel or something. Then, barring any other problems with the loach wedging itself into something, you should be able to net it. Sorry to hear about all the problems your tank is going through.

Surely he cant stay in there all the time!!! That is one insane dude... Maybe if you try it at night when the lights are off he'll be out and about so you can whip the bogwood out and then he'll have nowhere to hide.....

Just move him while he in the driftwood, I had a Loach that could get inside this rock structure (LFS Bought which was hollow) and he would go inside it.

Before I knew he was in there |I thought he was missing so I removed everything from tank and while everything was out I cleaned filter, done a good water change and some aquascaping. It took me around an hour or so and then put everything back in, well the Clown Loach swam out of the rock the next morning while I was watching and I was like, how the hell did you hide in there when it was out of the tank for an hour?!?!?!

well he survived for an hour and I have heard of storys of Clowns surviving 9 hours + out of water so there no problems of you just moving him while he in log, just make sure he in log and don`t fall out

I had two clowns who did the same thing.
When I changed the setup of my tank, I put the piece of driftwood in a large bowl and waited for them to come out (which took little under an hour :%)).
Once they were out, I quickly removed the wood from the bowl and put the fish in the quarantain tank.

P.S.:
Don't try and pull them (him) out; clowns have spines on their gill covers with which they can wedge themselves in tiny holes.
You'd hurt the little guy very much!

OK the silly fool finally swam out, I guess he got tired of being held upside down/right side up, shaken and stirred? He came out and is still mad at me the silly guy...

What I forgot was that I had 2 Albino BN in the tank as well The female was in her usual spot in the clay pot...the male, well.......for some reason I decided to put the driftwood in the bathtub and run some water, just incase I had anymore metae fry trying to hide...out plops Mr. BN and he was ticked!!! He swam all over the flipping bathtub with me chasing him trying to catch him, make sure the water was as cold as I could get it, try to dose the bathtub with stresscoat, it was funny I guess, but let me tell you he was happy to be in the 29 gallon when I finally caught him in my hands...scared me though...

You know, you're right. The thought of me chasing the fool down in the bathtub and trying to catch him with my hands, and debating on trying to add dechlorinator, and check temps, and what if the female is laying on the floor between the tub and the 125...oh yes, now it sounds hilarious!!! At the time though:%)it was anything but funny I'm glad he's in the 29 for now and is happy, he's going to be so delighted, him and his mistress to have the new pvc tubing I bought for them to hide in, when they get it tonight
