I don't think that's even an Ancistrus species really...

You better go make a thread on PC... Somebody there should no what it is. It looks like some species in the Hypostimae subfamily to me...

The body structure seems to be ancistrine, specifically the light odontodal growth near the base of the interoperculum. Keep in mind that the two subfamilies may be one in the same, so dubbing it as an ancistrus isn't too far from the truth. In fact, I'd be willing to wager it's from the genus Ancistrinae. I know of this species, but I can't recall which L number exactly. I know it's in the upper LDAs, like, 30 or something--look it up on PC.

EDIT: found it. LDA 40.

LDA40 doesn't have the white edging on the dorsal and caudal fins that Jason's fish does.

Also, Jasosn's fish doesn't have that "old boot" head shape that is typical of Ancistrinae (at least that's what I think they look like).

Thanks alot for all your reply's. I bought it as an Ancistrus Dolichopterus but from your reply's, it's not one of them.

Yeah, I guess I can see that the pectorals are incongruous with those of the typical ancistrinae (smaller and father back)...though the markings do look very similar. I highly doubt it's from the hypostomae division of the subfamily, though.
