Anybody currently have a Blue Phantom? Curious about their habits and water parameters. I have read up on them, but I wanted to know from somebody on the forums who has had one. Thanks!!!

They hate nitrates, grow to about 7", and like plenty of current. They are also great algae eaters. Personally, my experiences with these are strictly retail, but they last pretty long in the store anyways---they don't sell very well, which is a shame, because they are GORGEOUS . I have, however, kept green phantoms (a pair) in an attempt to bnreed them, but nothing ever came of the project. Oh yeah, they shouldn't be housed together in a small aquarium with few hiding places--they are highly territorial towards others of the same species.

Actually, I have a friend in Columbus breeding them. He keeps his housed in a 75 gal tank, many caves, live plants, and with them are a pair of bushy nose plecos, a pair of L263, 4 L273, and a pair of undescribed species that is coal black with white tiger stripes. His Blue Phantoms are breeding in the tap water up there. I don't know the specifics, but I can tell you the ph is around 7.5-8.0, and I'll try to ask him the specifics next time I see him. As I will be going up there again in Jan, and getting some of the L263 fry from him. He is the first to breed these guys, according to Ingo.

Definitely the first I've heard of; he should try breeding the greens, too.
Also, he should consider restocking his tank, as those 4 titanic psuedacanths won't be able to live in there for long without stunting.

He has already bred the L200s, and actually, in that tank, all but the blues have been bred. Some he got from Ingo, and were bred in Germany, but hopefully they will all breed for him as well.

Actually Ingo is breeding the L200s in Germany for a while now. And I know of a couple other breeders here in the states that are breeding them as well.

Wow, is that true? Guess PlanetCatfish is a little dated with their L200 article, where they can't even sex the fish much less breed them. That's awesome. I'd like some specifics, but there's no need for you to hurry to get them.

Well, it is still hard to sex them, at least that is what I have been told, but Ingo uses a colony of them, then determines a pair
