Only for curiosity's sake (I'm not getting any new plecos anytime soon since the filter incident with my last one), does anyone know anything about the L239? As in size, temperment, ease of maintenance? I looked on planetcatfish but they didn't really have any information about them at all.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Jen

They are similar to most ancistrinaes in ease of keeping. They are awfuchs browsers by nature and will feed on most foods given to them. They seem to have a preferrence towards spirulina based foods. They are quite belligerent towards one another in confined areas. They reach 5", maybe a bit more than that, but I've never seen them at such large sizes before.

Yeah, the above sums up what I've read about them. Funny thing about them is that although they're called the "blue Panaque", they actually aren't in the genus Panaque.

The only thing I have to add is that I believe they aren't much for eating algae off of tank glass. Though they will occasionally munch the algae that grows there, they prefer to eat their plant matter in the forms of vegetables and sinking algae products.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

So we broke down and ended up getting one off of aquabid. The poor guy was stuck in Ohio for 12 hours because the shipping faciliity had an error so the overnight shipping ended up taking 45 hours...we actually had to call the shipping company and find out what was going on and they weren't going to ship it until Tuesday at 12!! We politely convinced them that was not possible unless we wanted a dead fish, so we got it today.
It's surrently in the tank and seems to have acclimated well to its surroundings and survived the journey. We have named him "Wilson" --the volleyball from "Castaway"--in honor of his shipping mishaps. I'll try and post some pictures when I can get some good ones...he's a pretty shy guy
