I have 3 ottos in my tank at the moment, and they aren't touching any algae at all - and there's heaps of it!

I feed them algae wafers every 2 days or so because I'm scared that they'll starve themselves to death, but it's getting beyond a joke now. They are quite fat to the naked eye.

What do I do? Do I stop feeding them until they get off their bums? Or do I pamper them and watch the algae grow?

Mind you - they were quite active when I first put them in a few months ago, but nowadays they're hiding under some driftwood for the whole day.

I'd cut back or eliminate the wafers if you have green algae for them to browse on.. Watch their tummies, you will know if they're eating.

Also oto's do tend to be more still sometimes.. Test your nitrates and ph though.

Leave off the algae wafers for a while.

Think about it. You're an Otto, and you have a choice. Go hang on the glass and scrape off algae for a meal (which takes effort), or wait for that nice person to drop in those yummy algae wafers (which takes no effort at all). What would you do? Precisely!
