Well, as I mentioned on another thread, I went to a large lfs today. They must really be stocking up on awesome (and possibly rare, it's the first time I've seen many of these fish) catfish for the holiday season! They usually don't have this many!

To start off, they had several cool Corydoras species. There was a variation of C. pulcher, called C. pulcher #2. Never heard of it, but I think the dorsal fins were a little shorter than is normal for that species. There was C. leopardus, C. habrosus, C. sterbai, C. sodalis, C. haraldschultzi, and C. guapore, among others. They also had wild C. paleatus, which looked very nice.

That was just the cories, though. There were so many new plecos, and most all were very cool. I saw huge (probably over a foot) goldie and scarlet plecos, rhino plecs, paras, royals, and many kinds of Ancistrus. There were also king tiger, clown, gold nugget, snowball, “blue” Panaques, and among other things, queen arabesque plecos!!! Those were new in stock, and very beautiful. Unfortunately, they (and most of the other plecs) were well over the $15 I would have been willing to spend. I think the queen arabesque cats were either $33, or $40.

Either way though, I was delighted to see all of these great catfish. I am currently thinking about getting a job at this store, because it is the only one in the area that will hire people under 18. If I do manage to get a job there (shouldn’t be too hard, I’m more knowledgeable than many of the workers), I assume there will be an employee discount. If I get another tank… Score!!!

Just thought I’d share my catfish experience with you all!]

HOLY FREAKING MOTHER OF 40 DOLLARS. Hope you get that job, though. Then you can ship me some of those exotic cories, *nudge nudge*, amirite?

Is $40 a good price for queen arabesque plecos? They looked very lovely, and were around two and a half inches, if I recall correctly. I'd love to have one.

2 and a half inches is on the smallish side. I got both of mine for about 27 U.S. (there's an employee discount, but I decided not to use it, as I'd feel guilty for what would seem like ripping my boss off). We got them for 15 bucks wholesale but, and you'll have to excuse my language, they were in really 5|-|!tty condition. One passed away after (according to the guy), three days in the tank, and I took the remaining two, both of which are fat and healthy now.

I have seen Cuckoo Catfish for $250 Australian dollars. Now that is expensive. I have also seen 1 inch peppermint catfish for $75 Australian dollars.

which fish store do you go to? Where do you live? I live in Melbourne. And I go to Water world aquarium, blackburn aquarium, balwyn aquarium and hi-fin aquarium. They are all very good.

We get the queens at my work, and they never run for that much. Always under $40...

But nice find Nick.
