I need an advice!

i have 4 clown loach, 4 zebra loach, 4 blue loach in 55 gallon tank, all of them are roughly 3 inch at the moment. i do twice water change weekly and all are doing great at the moment.

1st question, did i overstock my tank?
2nd question, when should i start moving these beauties to a bigger tank? i know that clown loach and blue loach could get bigger but at the moment 55 gallon should be okay for their size right?

hit me back

Yes, you are going to be overstocked. I'm not familiar with the common term of blue loach, but your clown loaches have the capability of getting to a foot or so in size and the zebra loaches to 8 inches or so.

Do you have anything else in this tank currently? If so then you may want to consider upgrading to a much larger tank in the immediate future. For the loaches alone, especially with the numbers that you now have, I would say at the very minimum a tank of 150 gallons.

Usually zebra loach is the common name for Botia striata which only gets 4" not 8". The blue loach is probably Botia Modesta which will get at least 8" and I've seen 12" listed before. Clowns can reach 12" so I'd definitely go with the 150g. Since these are also all extremely active fish I'd probably try for a 200g. They are slow growers but I wouldn't wait too long to move them since it's easy to stunt them early. Then not only will they never reach their full size but their lifespan will be shortened and the stress may lead to diseases that kill your smaller loaches as well.

that's cool i will be upgrading the tank very soon thanks for all your advice, 150g sounds cool

so far only loaches in the tank those clown are doing well and so is the zebra, but the blue loach (botia modesta) are hiding inside the cave except during feeding
