I know that some loaches eat snails, will kuhli or yoyo loaches eat malaysian trumpet snails if I put them together?

Thanks,
Lauren

Kuhli loaches won't eat snails.
Yoyo loaches will.
Basically the worm-looking loaches don't, whereas the typical botia will.

I have a tank with four yo-yo loaches. A few months ago I added about 50 MTS to the tank. Today I still have snails in the tank, though I'm not quite sure of the number since I haven't flicked on the light in the middle of the night to count them. I have, however, seen a number of empty shells around... but I've also seen lots of tiny little MTS as well. Basically, if you add the snails in big enough numbers and keep the loaches well fed with shrimp pellets and other types of food, the snails should be able to reproduce enough to keep their numbers up and not get wiped out. (though some, of course, will be eaten...)

Thank guys! I don't think I'll spend the cash to buy a possible snack for my loaches! Lol. Not to mention I'd have to order them online anyway. Probably wouldn't be worth the cost it would take to get them! Thanks a lot!

Actually, you can get them for a few bucks total. Lots of people on ebay and aquabid.com are practically giving them away since they reproduce so quickly in tanks without natural controls for them. Look around, I got 50 of them for a few bucks with free shipping.

Yeah, no need to PAY for MTS's. Heck, I'll send you a bunch for shipping. And most other hobbyists will too. You just have to look around and ask. Many lfs' get them in on plants and will also give them away.

I have MTS in all my tanks and the loaches don't eat them. About a year ago I went to a lcs asking for pest snails to feed my dwarf puffer. Along with those I got 3-4 MTS. Right now I couldn't even guess how many I have, hundreds & hundreds. It only takes a few to get started.
