I left for work, fed the kids and came back at around 6pm.

We're in the middle of summer over here, and yesterday the mercury reached a nasty 40 degrees again. And due to cloud cover it's still hot this morning.

Now in all of this confusion we've had raging bushfires throughout the hills (some 40km) away dropping ash for up to a 100km. My house looks like snow.

We've lost fish. A bi-colour blenny in my GF's tank and I've lost one of my Cories.

I inspected the corpse that night, no red infected patches (there were a few tiny red dots between the vent and the tailfin) doesn't look undernourished, doesn't look all that bad except for his crooked spine, but he's always had that.

I'm at a loss! What should I be looking for? Is all the ash in the air making the situation worse? Is my trying to control cyanobacteria having an adverse effect on my tank? Is today going to be as hot as yesterday??

Hmm, sorry for your loss. Cories espicailly the smaller ones are highly sensative to changes the ashes and the warm temperature could be the cause of death. I hope no more fish die on ya.

Yeah, I know, they've been fine for a month or two in their new environment, there were six, now five.

Thing is everyone else seems happy and healthy.
