hi guys, after getting tipped off about these armoured monsters,i decided to get 1,to try in with my flowerhorn, well i visted like 7 fish shops 2day(saturday)and none of them had any in stock, another said they were strickly a special order,so ive got a few more lfs to try 2morro,but if i cant find 1,and so far its not looking good, ill try and order 1 in,if i cant get,one of the lfs i visted, when i asked him about the megalo,he asked why i was opting for such a armoured moster,i told him that my fh,is mental to out it mild, and he recomended a samon catfish,he said a bigger 1 would be better, but it would be ok,well i rekon my fh,would just devour him,and if it was a big one, even then he would still thrash it i rekon,do any of you guys own a samon catfish, and have you kept them with fish of my fh aggression,i nearlly fell over when he said a samon cat,ive never had a samon cat,but ive seen plenty,i just dont think 1 could handle my fh.if i cant get a megalo, ill just give in and let my fh have his way

I can pretty much guarantee that you'll never see one in Aus for anything under, say 700-1000 U.S.

Wouldnt a flowerhorn as territorial as that attack the catfish anyway? Its not an armoured type, it could get wounded.Worse yet the cat might respond in kind with its poison spines and that might mean dead flowerhorn. How big is your tank old chap? Might be able to think of something both tougher and less likely to respond with deadly force.

cool, post a picture of that sucker, I gotta see him.

lol i know megalos get huge,Ive always wanted one, i meant the samon cat, theyre a skinned catfish arent they? no skin armour, just smooth?

incidentally, if you cant get the megalodorus , maybe you could try getting one of these monsters, a mother of snails catfish? It very similar in a lot of respects, you might be able to get a small one and grow it on till its big enough.
I assume 80 cm is big enough

[link]http://www.scotcat.com/factsheets/oxydoras_niger.htm [/link]

then theres the other megalodorus, the paucisquamatus at 60 cm, or maybe a freckled doradid, pterodoras lentiginosus at 60cm again, or for those with the really huge urge to get a tank bigger than their living room, try a common bacu , pterodoras granulosus at a humbling 90 cm. Im pretty sure a flowerhorn cant take one of those out

oh,god im a goose, yeah the samon cats are as smooth as a babies bum.wow, you are a bit of a bottom feeder guru arent you,to be honest,im just guna give in to the fh(jaws is his name)some of those monster bottom feeders you mentioned sound great, and im putting my fh in the 200gal too so the bottom feeder would of had room, but my fh has been by himself for 99% of his whole life, and even a bottom feeder that big and tuff, would still get harrased, and pretty bad too, even if it means my fh hurting himself he will.i told someone on this site the other dya, that my fh done more damage to him self knocking down a divider and getting throo to kill a male convict,so yeah he is mental,so ill pass on trying to mix him,but thanx heaps for all the ideas, now for the photo,id love to post pics, ive been asked like 10 times or more, but,i have a problem with my pc(i think)i have heaps of pics of all my fish in my didgy camera, and when i hook a usb cable up to it,to put them on my pc,the camera says,it was done sucsessfully, and when i go into my pc,the photos are no where to be found?ive tryed heaps of times, and i just keep getting stuck there?im guna have to take it up the shop i think, all you guys are guna think im full of doo doo...

Whats the make of camera, even if the interface software is FUBAR you might be able to use explorer to rip the files right off it, its just a question of knowing the right file location, and no, I dont think youre full of doo doo! lol.

just plug it in via usb or memory stick or whatever faff sony make you do these days, check to see whatever drive its come up as in explorer, go take a peek until you find either a load of jpegs, raw files etc, and just copy the lot to a file destination of your choice. You dont need to rely on interface software for most cameras. Its usually cack anyway.

Usually theres a dcim folder or similar and the pics will be in there.
