There's nothing wrong with having different types of cories in one tank, providing there's enough room for each type to have its own group of 6 or more. ![]() When I first came to this site, I was told I could mix different cories to have a school. Well, mine didn't school, and now most people (including myself) give the opposite advice. *shrugs* I hope I answered your question. ![]() ![]() -Formerly known as the Ferretfish ![]() |

I never thought it would get answered so fast. I just put up this topic about ten minutes ago. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Golden Ryukin at 08-Feb-2005 17:39 |

I wanted them to be happy so I went several of my local fish stores looking for more, but unfortunately they all had "just sold out". One did have "masked cories" which look very simular so I got four of these. They all seem to like each other. Like FerretFish said, the don't always "school" anyway. Mine most of the time hang out in "two's", and I only see them school all together every once in awhile. ![]() |

Now i have 4 different types. They all seem happy enough, and schoal together, but i kind of wanted 6-8 of one type! O well, i would recommend if you are going to mix schoals to have at least 3 or 4 of each, as far as i know this makes them the happiest! Sam |

Especially with the more 'avowedly social' ones like Pandas. Go hunt down any of the 2 million words I've written on the subject on this Board for more info ![]() ![]() |

Everyone seems to agree that 'the more the merrier' is the way to go, however many people seem to have a few of these and a few of those & they are apparently happy fish. I have set up a tank at work, and as you can imagine, I am limited by size, so six of these & six of those is not an option. As long as no one believes that it would be bad, I think I might go for a few albino & a few peppered. They won't be competing for food, and there should be nothing that stresses them out in the tank so.... |

I started out with two trilineatus, added in two more (new tank, wanted to take it easy with stocking) and then I couldn't find trilines anywhere! Silly LFS. I picked up a single agassizi (felt sorry for him, as I'd seen him for weeks all along in a tank full of tiger barbs at the LFS) and haven't managed to pick up any more of his kind, either. Drat it all... I've found that they seem to school together well, even though the agassizi is already passing up the trilines in size. It's not unusual to see a triline or two piled up with the agassizi. The trilines are more shy than the agassizi, however. Maybe because he had to get used to being alone for so long in the LFS? *shrugs* Is it an ideal situation? No. However, it works for these guys. Wish I could get more buds for them, but for whatever reason, my LFS can't get in any more agassizi, and the trilines that come in are gone before I get there. *rolls eyes* ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |
