I rescued a couple of corys yesterday, the first I've rescued in a long time (don't normally go to that store anymore). They are some fairly large C. sodalis, and I would estimate their age at about five years. I think they might have belonged to someone else before who then brought them back.

They were in a 10 gallon tank with like 20 kribs, and the poor corys were being nipped to death. Their barbels are short and their fins were in really bad shape, but I am seeing improvement already. at $2 each, who could say no to them?

Here is a picture of one of them.

Good for you Cory Addict I love corys they have such sweet inquisitive faces. I have around 20 corys at the moment in a 100uk gallon tank so I must not get any more but its hard when you see them in such a bad way. You know you just have to rescue them coz life's got to be better for them with you. I rescued a little panda about 4 weeks ago he was so tiny I was a bit scared the other fish may eat him but he is doing well and is now about half the size of my adult pandas. It seems to be hard to get pandas here in the uk at the moment is there some reason for this?

nice addition I love mine. They are very photogenic!!! wait till you hit it at the right angle and get the green sheen on them to come out on the pics. I found some locally and bought 3 of them then I bid on an auction for some that were mislabled as something else I can't remember but I bid before I noticed that they were a different species so I got 6 more of them that were directly imported so I know that these are infact wild caught and I betting that the store ones are too.

here is what i am talking about with the green sheen

Thanks, guys!

It seems to be hard to get pandas here in the uk at the moment is there some reason for this?

I've noticed that at my store, we don't get as many South American imports in late summer/early fall because supposedly there aren't as many available. I'm am not sure why this is, maybe it has something to do with the different seasons in the Southern Hemisphere.

By the way cory addict I like your photo so much can I have your permission to safe the picture to have on my desktop?

Go on ahead.

wait till you hit it at the right angle and get the green sheen on them to come out on the pics.

I'm still learning stuff about my camera, but I still cannot get it to capture iridescences well. It seems to capture textures a lot better than it does colors.

Here are a couple more pictures. I don't get it though... The camera refuses to show the green iridescences (though my cory isn't nearly as bright as yours, Jdubs) on the C. sodalis, but the color on the C. sp. "orange laser" shows up fine.
