Ok, last night I sat down and hunted for Baby (official name of the cory fry I know I have ) I caught him and moved him to my 20 gallon which I hope will help in keeping up with his tiny little body. But, before I floated him and released him, I got some good pictures

I basically layed the bag down on a pillow, with a penny underneth the bag (so Baby wasn't hurt, with the penny, but I have something to compare size to.) So folks here are 2 pictures, I have to go resize the others...heidi

and again

Do you think that was the only fry in your tank? Are there more hiding in the plants? Or will your cories accomidate you by spawing again.

I really think there were more in the tank, but couldn't find any more last night. Considering how small they are and how large that tank is, I'm still surprised I found this little guy, and he wasn't where I saw him last timeof course this may be another one entirelyhe was already over in the corner by the airstoneAnd I suspect that they will spawn again I actually got so see the Agazzis slurping the blood worms like spaghetti last night...Think I'll do a good size water change this weekend, and feed them up, and then wait and see

So Leslie, are you saying that you would want some fry?

There is really no way to tell which species it is until the fry is about 6-8 weeks of age. This is because the fry's patterns are vastly different from the adult patterns in nearly all species until that age.

Take a look at Ian Fuller's Spawning Logs to see what I mean.

However, Panda fry can have black patches over the eyes from quite an early age. This pic]http://groups.msn.com/CaliLasseiasGiantPhotoCompendium/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=326[/link] shows "Big Junior" as I called him then (I think this one went on to become Lady Emma Hamilton, if that sentence doesn't sound totally surreal ) at about 4 weeks old or thereabouts. Mind you, they also have black pepper dots on the body that disappear around 10-12 weeks, when the proper adult colouration kicks in. The black pepper dots seem, however, to be the only significant deviation from adult colour in Panda fry. However, there are some Corydoras fry whose colouration undergo truly radical changes: Corydoras rabauti is an extreme example. Although [link=this spawning log from Ian Fuller's web pages only has line drawings of the fry, bear in mind that the drawing of the 1 month old fry actually depicts a tricolour fish: an orange head, black body below the dorsal fin, and white body behind the dorsal fin with white tail. A more different colour scheme from the adult rabauti couldn't really be imagined.

Last night before bedtime I decided to recheck the 125 for anything else I should be aware of...and I found another Corydora Fry . I was able to catch the little guy, but decided what the heck, one final check, and bang here was another one I wasn't able to catch this one (he should win the 2 meter freestyle award) so I know the other night I wasn't hilucinating whent I thought I saw 3 of them. So now there are 2 in the 20, and at least 1 more in the 125...any idea how many I might actually have in there? Cali, Corry Addict, Diane, anyone else that would know...is it ok that I am moving them to another tank, as grow out? Or should I just be happy that I have fry and leave them in the 125? heidi

Oh this is becoming hilarious

I sat and watched everyone eat last night the blood worms, shrimp pellets, and algae wafers, and was almost asleep when I notice the smallest movement to my left, and yes it was my extra fry, well, I continue to sit and watch and bang I now know that I have at least 5 cory fry yes, i found 3 more in the 125, but I think I'll leave them there *shrugs* why not right? The little guys were coming out to join everyone for their supper, and were munching down in various parts of the tank when out comes big ol' BN, he can scatter everything in that tank faster than if I put my whole body in the tank Well, that was the last I saw of 2 of them, as they swam for hidey holes, the other was safe from BN, as for me I went to bed heidi michelle

Sounds like you're reaching the stage where a nursery aquarium would be a good idea for these little fellows.

Furnish with plenty of Java Moss and a box filter until they're about 10mm long, whereupon they'll live with a UGF. Although having said that, I've had fry turn up in the Panda Fun Palace™ before now, which has a UGF driven by a fairly beefy powerhead, and they've still survived and prospered. It's just that people such as Ian Fuller and Derek Lambourne (who have bred more Corys than many of us have ever even seen) recommend not using a UGF with fry to stop them being sucked into the gravel and being unable to get out. It would be intereting to conduct an experiment to see if a UGF driven by an airstone is safe. Which is precisely what I'm doing in the breeding aquarium on the lower tier below the Panda Fun Palace™.

thanks jason, and cali i'm thinking about a nursery

but for now they seem to be doing wonderful in the 125...I actually saw 2 of them last night without hunting them down, they are getting so big, and are actually out and about in the tank going for the shrimp pellets and algae wafers

and I stole Leslie's java mossand I think there are eggs in it
