I was just wondering if this is dangerous for the fish. I came home one day and my Chinese Algea Eater was nowhere to be found. I looked all around and finally found him in the FILTER!!! Should I be finding a way to cover it or is he okay in there. He can get out on his own and it doesn't seem like he can get into the fan.

well if he manages to get in to the impeller you will have a problem, but if it is seperate to the part which he is getting in then there is no problem. my kuhlis are regularly in my internal filters and they havn't become diced yet

what kind of filter do you have for a fish to swim into?

MONKEYS ARE COOL, BUT SEA-MONKEYS ARE BETTER.

My plecos will swim up to the output of a powerfilter and hang there. Occasionally they'll have their body partially in the filter and if you scare them they just let go and the current takes them back into the tank. So long as they can't get past the filter cartridge to any moving filter parts then they aren't really in any danger. I just have to make sure the filter isn't too close to the side or a few have flipped themselves sideways off the filter and over the edge of the tank.

Make sure that the CAE wouldn't get stuck in the filter & if i where you, i would put a net on the intake & output pipes.
