They might eat the leftover flake on the bottom but you'll probably need to add some algae tablets if there's not much algae for them to eat. Also, 3 BN sounds like a lot for a 10 gallon...they get 4-5 inches full grown I think. Do you have somewhere else you could put a couple of them?

Yup the bn's will grow, and since they produce a lot of waste, that tank chemistry will probably go critical if you keep them in there much longer.

3 BN in a 10G.. they will mow down the algae in no time. I have 1 BN in my algae plagued 75G. It took care of the algae in just one week. You need to feed them with algae wafer and re-house them to a bigger tank... they grow really fast.

Yeah my bn cleared a 55 in a week and a 120 3 weeks later,I actually moved him to the bigger tank cos I was worried hed run short of food in the 55! They can certainly pile in the algae.

hmm... depands on how quickly the tank will get dirty again, we have one BNP in our 20 gallon (but we intend to get another for our 90), and he is wonderful! We don't have to put in food, as he munches on the wood and pics up scraps, but if your fry create almost no waste, add in pellets (asst) every once and a while!

Hears a crazy thought, why not move them into the tank when you need them Or move two an leave one for now for the maintenance you need.
