Yesterday I looked all through my tank for one of my bronzed cories as I notied I couldn't see him. I had pretty much decided that he must have died and been eaten by the others when I saw him sitting by my phone

This is the second time I've had a suicide leap out of my work tank...First time I was there and was startled by the 'plop' as a guppy landed near my hand. This time I didn't see it and found a dried out little cory

I think I am definitely going to have to get my glass cut to fit my filter so there isn't the big gap....

It's better to fix the glass cover well & make it exactly the size of the filter, or else you'll have more leaping fish......

Remember, all fish are capable of leaping from a tank. Bettas, plecos, anything. I've seen many desperate fish try to jump their way to freedom, including quite a few species you wouldn't expect it from. I wholeheartedly encourage you to get a nice, tight lid on there.

This story is starting to make me think, maybe I should cover up my tank aswell, as I have a space in the back left corner with no glass as the filter pipes etc are all there. I think I might make a cover of some sort, as I don't want my Frontosa or anything to jump out.

Actually, rather than a leap for freedom, I think they're just trying to get closer to me. For the most part, when I am at my desk the fish congregate in the front corner closest to me watching my every move....They are of course most excited when I get in because they know it's brekky time!
