I recently purchased a pleco labelled "rubber face" that looks just like this, which they're calling a bristlenose.

So, did I just buy a juvie bristlenose?

Well if it looks excactly like it probably you did. You can have a look on it`s face for very small bristles, it will grow bristles anyway eventually so if it does then you have bought a BN

He does look just like that, except in the picture the spots become blotchy in the end half of the fish, whereas with mine he has tiny spots all over his body.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Smaller BN's contain spots which many times they will grow out of.

does he seeem to have a smooth skin or like scales that are more prodominante as if armouring the Plec?
