![]() | Need Help Feeding African Ropefish |
Soidfuf![]() Hobbyist Posts: 101 Kudos: 52 Votes: 12 Registered: 25-Aug-2006 ![]() ![]() | I just purchased an african ropefish and I am currently feeding it frozen krill. I'm not sure if the ropefish notices his food. Is this because the food is floating on the surface, not correct food, or he just hasn't gotten used to his new life in my tank. Can anyone tell me a good way to feed him so that he gets a fair share of food. -Soidfuf P.S. You were right Natalie the tiger barbs aren't messing with him or eating his food. |

That way the Rope Fish should be able to find it. This does, of course, depend upon how easy the krill is to handle! In the case of freeze dried Tubifex, I have an unusually shaped lead weight that originated from an angler's bait feeder - it has a flat ba ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Only one problem with this approach - despite being illustrated in the old Innes book (and it is precisely that image I'm going to put up here - photo credit is in the photo by the way) and presumably being an item of equipment that's been around for a long time, I have NEVER been able to find one. In thirty years of looking. Of course, that's here in the UK. In the US, you might have more luck, especially if you point your dealer at this pic. Should presumably work for your krill as well as for freeze dried Tubifex. Photo follows: ![]() ![]() |

After that, you might want to try earthworms (you can buy them, or find your own if no chemicals are used on your property). The worms sink to the bottom and will squirm around, which will be extremely enticing for the Ropefish. Once he is eating well on earthworms and live ghost shrimp maybe, it will likely be easier to convert him to frozen and freeze-dried foods. ![]() I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

He seems to be acting normal but I think he still hasn't settled in because he is just hanging around in the back right corner when he could go hide in my rocks. I'll probably go get earthworms only after I can't get him to eat the krill out of my hand. I picked the frozen over freeze dried because it was cheaper ![]() -Soidfuf |
