As planned, I went out today and bought some cories. I went to a store about 45 minutes away, which usually has a decent selection of fish, and especially corydoras. There were several kinds that caught my eye, including C. sterbai, C. guapore, C. leopardus, C. trilineatus, C. pygmaeaus, and a verson of C. pulcher. However, because of their 'different' looks and price reasons, I went with Corydoras septentrionalis. Quite a mouthful, huh? They were labeled as the "Southern green cory". I bought five of them for about $25 U.S., since there were only five available. Did I get a good deal? I've never seen these guys before, other than at that one store.

Does anyone have any experience with these fellows? They seem pretty content to swim around together, and browse the tank in seperate groups. I've read that they are hardy, and good fish like most cories, but I want to hear it firsthand.

Here are some pictures I was able to take:

They just don't stop moving!]

For those who don't know what fish I'm talking about, here are some links:

Long snouted cories are always cute. What pretty little fish. All the cories we get here are pretty darn common. .

Sir Brooks,

If you are satisfied with your purchase, then you got a good deal. These guys look healthy, they were reasonabley priced, and look a bit unusual so I think you did get a good deal.

My LFS had those when I bought my metae/pandas, but I fell in love with the black and pink ones. They're adorable, congratulations!

We have a problem...

One of the cories has a brown, fuzzy 'growth' on the base of its tail. I have had problems with sick cories from this store before, so I'm understandably upset. I assumed that this growth was fungus, and I moved to stop it this morning. I bought a medicine (the only one available for treating fungus) this morning. You're supposed to just drop in these tablets, and they fizz, and kill fungus, and everyone lives happily ever after. However, the tablets turned my tank green.]:| The box said nothing about this!]

Anyways, is this fungus easily treatable? Should I do anything else to get rid of it, like raising the temperature in my tank? I don't have any carbon in, so that's been taken care of.

Thanks for your time.
