- Once again, the 20 long prooves to be the Love Tank

If I hadn't witnessed it, I would not have believed such a large egg would come from a tiny Habrosus. For those who recall, I had a lone Habrosus Cory that I suspected was a female because of her large size (about 3/4 inch or 16.75 mm). She was in a lone tank of otos over a year ago, when I purchased her with intent to find more like her. Thanks to Sarah (Wolfie3118), I was finally able to add 5 more very young habrosus this summer.

"Mini-Me" as she is called, got fat in a hurry once the other cories were added. This morning, I watched in awe as she laid eggs with the tiniest of males. They are scatered in many places - in the java moss, java fern, up the glass (especially on the silicone some 2 inches (50mm) high).

Unfortunately, I have no spare tanks, and with the holidays coming, no spare time. Otherwise, I'd pluck that Java Fern and Java Moss out of there later and hatch those babies. Maybe sometime in the future.

This is Mini-Me in the profile pic when I did the write up on Habrosus Cories: http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/daintycory.xml

Well, several of the eggs are now missing . It wasn't unexpected. However, I thought it would be during the night. I found my other, larger cories outside of their caves. They have a real knack for scenting when is in the water. . I can see two eggs undisturbed and will watch to see if they disappear too. You should see them when the white clouds are laying eggs. The cories are right behind them all the way, including the habrosus . The rasboras just take care of their own eggs. One pair inverts under a leave to put eggs up and they fall down, usually into the mouth of another rasbora down below

Well, all the eggs were gone when I got up this morning . Oh well, better they got eaten as eggs, rather than larvae or fishies. Mini-Me probably ate her own eggs. She's always eating - day and night.

I have 6 Habrosus total and wasn't intending to breed. But I'm very happy to see that they feel quite at home in my 20 long
