Hey folks,

I picked up 3 new small sterbais today. I've been looking for sterbais at a decent price for quite a while. They are currently in their new home in a 29 gallon by themselves for the moment. They seem to be doing great, very active so far.

Now the challenge will be capturing the 3 I have in my 75 gallon to add make up my school in a few days.

Very nice, Sterba's cories are very beautiful. How much did you find them for, and how big were they? Just curious.

Sir Brooks,

I paid $9.99 per cory for them. They're small, but I wanted small ones. You never know how old they are if they are full grown. They are really active little guys, they've been constantly swimming around their tank, except of course when I come close, then they all freeze.

In a week or two I'll have to round up their new buddies out of my 75 gallon.

The only problem that I may have (and I guess it's not really a problem) is that the sterbais that I have may not actually be sterbais, they may be corydoras haraldschultzies, very similar, but not quite the same.

The new ones are definately sterbais.

Corydoras haraldschultzi and C. sterbai are similar, I'll give you that. However, they can be told apart, especially if you have an example of each in front of you. To help you correctly identify your cories, I'll show you a pic of each, so that you can see the differences.

Corydoras haraldschultzi:

Corydoras sterbai:

As you can see, the Sterba's cories have bright orange pectoral fins, while the pectoral fins on C. haraldschultzi have a yellow color. Also, the spots on the C. haraldschultzi's head and snout are not connected, as they are on C. sterbai.

I hope this will help you figure out what kind of cories you have!

Well, I'm still not what species the 3 older ones are. They have all the charateristics of sterbais except for the round snout, there's is alot more pointy.

Whatever they are doesn't really matter anyway. These cories are definately my favorites, always active and very attractive & hardy. They also are the only cories where I can tell each one apart.
