I saw all 3 of my clown loaches, after the move, but i hadnt seen one. I know alot of times that you are never there at the right time to see them, but i only saw the same 2 loaches for a week. I got pretty scared, and i started moving rocks. The clown loach was jammed under a rock (either he got in there, or a fish hit it nd it fell on him) but i thought he was dead. He looked pretty skinny (he hadnt eaten since last wednesday) and his gills looked pretty red. I havent seen him today (it is too early and my parents are still sleeping) but do you think i should do anything? I can't really put any meds in the tank since there are scaleless fish in there, and no salt either. I will see if he is eating later today, and i will post back. |

Hopefully it is just a bit shocked and will come round, try giving it bloodworms most loaches cant resist them even when they aren;t that hungry they tend to have a little bite. Gibson SG you know you want one!! |

I'd say that he's suffering from terrible stress (and meds probably wouldn't make a dif) but it could turn out either way. Is he swimming around much now? Or is he confined to a hidey hole. Keep an eye on him because if any of the visual symptoms get worse it might be time to add meds. A lot of diseases are caused when fish get stressed so if he was that bad, he may have developed something...especially as there may have been a lack of oxygen in his system for a while. But don't give up hope as CL's are tougher than people give them credit for. I have had several sick CL's in the past and have been too scared of giving them meds (and theie symptoms haven't been that clear). 90% of the time they get healthy again somehow and go on living for years. My oldest one I assumed had died twice so far as he wouldn't come out of his hidey hole for about a week both times. When I noticed that he hadn't come out for a while, I checked him out and he was still alive. shortly after he started coming out of his hole more often and now i've had him for almost 2 years! Good luck and let us know how it turns out. ![]() |

He does swim around alot, but he does spend alot of his time with his dorsal fin down. This CL has gotten hurt before (got bit in a little brawl over ONE of the 4 sinking pellets around him) but he does seem healthy. I saw him scratch where he was banged up against the driftwood, but this is probably because it is very uncomftorable to him. I fed the fish, and he seemed more interested in the flakes than the sinking pellets he loved, he would eat the flakes, but just spit them back out. I havent really saw him eat any pellets yet, but i dont really blame him. (If you were stuck under a car that fell on you for a week, would you feel like getting up and eating? I know i wouldnt) I will observe him today a little bit. Also, I have had one of my biggest, and oldest (probably around 8" and 15 years old) jump out of our tank for 15 minutes. There were pillows next to our tank, and we heard something back there, we thought it was a mouse, so we threw our cat back there.. he looked at us, and walked away. After about 5 minutes we got brave, and saw the clown loach back there, he was covered in dust and everything. We ploped him back into the tank, and he is still alive today. |
