bigchris![]() Fingerling Posts: 36 Kudos: 29 Votes: 0 Registered: 02-Mar-2005 ![]() ![]() | I've been considering otocinclus for my 20g tank for a while to keep my soft algae in check (it grows despite zero nitrates and phosphates) and just wondered if they'd suit the tank and it's current inmates: 1x silver hatchetfish 4x cherry barb 5x rummy nose tetra (possibly adding 1 or 2 friends for the hatchetfish soon). I know of Otto's only what I've read on the web so any advice at all would be appreciated. Cheers! ![]() |

They are usually starving to death at the store and a good supply of food really helps them out. It also funny to see the ottos paths they carve thru the algae when they 1st start feeding in their new home. |

tankie![]() Fish Addict Posts: 857 Kudos: 848 Votes: 230 Registered: 15-Mar-2005 ![]() ![]() | well yes...ottos...sometimes just die off for no apparent reason...it could be that the one uve got is sick in the 1st place....that usually happens to me...whenever i get 2..i almost always ended up with 1...but that one...will continue thriving in the tank..till i get new ones..then one of them will die...buy hey, i luv my ottos...they r relentless little buggers...always on the move...and i like them specially when they start chasing some fish or when they eat with them. ![]() btw...Cali....i enjoy (still reading from time to time) ur article....its one of the best ive read ![]() |
