In a 32 gallon, either four or five ottos would be a good choice. They tend to be shoaling fish, so they do well in groups, but you don't want to have so many that you don't have enough algae for them all.

not having enough algea is not a problem.
first, you can supplument them with other greens.
second, if you throw in certain terrestrial vegies (for example, zuccini) completely uncooked, they sometimes have their own algea payload to add, which the ottos will appreciate.

It also depends on how stocked the tank is with other fish. But if you're not overstocked I'd say four would be fine.

My otos enjoy fresh lettuce & spinach, as well as frozen broccoli. I also grow algae rocks in a container of water.

I have 3 in my 10 gallon but still have a surplus of green fuzz algae.. They have full bellies often and eat only that.

I added some Amano Shrimp and ghost shrimp, but the ghosts might be removed as they kinda freak the otos out the way they approach them.

Also, try the Otocinclus Pet Rock™ trick I've just documented in Fry's thread about breeding Otocinclus. Keeps mine full and burping

Meanwhile, Theresa, I WANT that chocolate gateau being eaten by the little boy in your avatar
