Anyone got any experience? The eggs have been laid on the filer out-take pipe and they're currently being guarded by the proud parents! They're in a community tank with red-eye & neon tetras, hatchetfish, cories and a hoplo. I think the eggs are too big for all but the red-eyes, but I wouldn't mind segregating the fry if I can.

In 3 years of fish keeping I think this is our first bona fide spawning!

Once they hatch, the parents will not be so protective--meaning it's a good idea to get those eggs into a fry trap asap. Personally, I've never spawned and loricarine species (though I'm looking to); rather, I do a lot of ancistrine work.

Allow me to offer huge congratulations on your spawning success! Sadly I've never encountered these fishes (are they Farlowella catfishes perchance?) so I can't advise on spawning or breeding details other than what I've read (and details in the literature are few and far between, at least in my library collection) but a trip to PlanetCatfish.com might prove fruitful, as there are articles there by people who have spawned a whole range of Loricariid catfishes. You might even find one or two articles by people such as Erwin Schraml and Ingo Seidel, both of whom are credited with spawning a number of rare L-numbers.
