Well, I have 1 CT betta and 2 small panda cory's in a 3 gallon eclipse tank, heated at 79 and it has 2 pieces of bogwood with 2 anubias planted and growing on them. The LFS still has a few left, and was wondering, should I get anymore panda's? I really like them =) I'd say the panda's are about 1 inch each. The betta tries to sneak up on them, but the cory's have hiding spots and are very alert, and don't seem bothered at all. All in all, it's a good situation, but, would a 3rd cory be advised?

I'd leave your setup just the way it is, as panda corys grow to about 2" long, and produce a lot of waste for a fish their size.

Your tank seems like a cool little setup... DO you have any pictures of it?

Let me snap a quick picture -- Im having an issue feeding them though! My betta is a pig. A complete pig.

The problem is this though. I have Hikari sinking wafers, I break them into halves, then break them into 1/4's and drop 2 small pieces on opposite ends of the tank.

I then feed the betta, either his freeze dried bloodworms or my hikari biogold.

He of course, always, always begs for more food.

No matter what, my betta will swim to the bottom and search for the hikari wafers softening, and eat them. He will pick them up, spit them out, and repeat until he has finished them it seems.

My pandas seem happy, they stay close together, and one is very "darty" and does quick swims to the top and back, and likes to play hide and seek and "ram the betta" while his partner in crime has it's attention.

Im just worried they might not be getting enough to eat?
Well, I'll get a picture up soon.

Also -- how can I tell the difference between a male and a female? One of them is definately "darker" between the black lines, like smaller brown lines.

Second edit -- Ill try for a picture tomorrow, the panda's are eating away in there while the bettas is clearly saying "you better not turn on that light"

Better still, get a bigger tank and get 8 Pandas.

Then you won't have any problems w.r.t. breeding, other than stopping them spawning like mad once a week if you look after them like I do mine

Here's the setup =) Quick picture as I run out the door! Sorry for the plants being ugly atm, they are rather new and some leaves came in damaged, so I pruned them, have new leaves aplenty already coming in on both of them =)

Nice. Those plants are going to look beautiful when they really start growing.

Are they Anubias nana or another variety?

Also, that tank looks pretty big - are you sure it's three gallons? Unless the fish are really small...

It is 3 gallons. And they are nana's, the one on the left has really taken off and rooted firmly to the wood for being in there for only about a month now. And Im getting very nice growth on my right plant now with 2 new leaves this past week.

The cory's are very small, I'd say 1 inch only or so. The betta is also, fairly young at about 5.5 months. I have a few nooks and crannies here and there for the cory's to hide and they seem to like it. I can tell they wish they had more friends though, maybe in a new tank I'm looking at getting =)

I've had the cory's in there going on about a week now, one has really settled in, the other seems to be taking his time. Any reason why one cory would be pumping his gills very quickly, while the other is noticably slower?
