The other night I bought three pandas. The next morning I noticed one was missing. After an exhaustive search, I found him dead, wedged deep within the base of a plastic plant. The next night, same thing; I found one dead stuck within the base of another plastic plant. Has anyone every experienced this? The pandas were only about 3/4 of an inch long. I've noticed that my White Clouds have been nipping at them. Could they have been trying to hide and got stuck?

It is possible they got stuck but normally cories are quite good at wriggling around to get themselves out of tight spaces so my guess is that they've just died in that area and water movement has wedged their little bodies there

That's what I thought with the first one; that the current had dragged him into the plant after he died, but the second one could have only gotten himself in there. I almost had to pull the plant apart to get him out. Then there's the coincidence that two had died and been pushed into the base of a plant. Plus, both seemed to be fine shortly before I found them.

I'm sorry, it does sound like they did get stuck then poor little guys, I had a gourami that got herself stuck into a log in the fish tank and died and it's a horrible feeling

He'd be feeling the need for company now though so that at least gives you an excuse to buy more

Hmm, haven't experienced this kind of woe.

My Pandas have big forests of Java Moss to play in, and tangled Java Fern rhizomes to explore, and they never seem to exeprience any trouble whatsoever finding a path through them. In fact, when they're spawning, they tunnel through the Java Moss with a speed and efficiency that has to be seen to be believed.

Mind you, you did mention that this was a plastic plant. Live plants tend to be more flexible and forgiving with respect to fish bodies wriggling between gaps. The way my Pandas stick their snouts into the crown of my Amazon Sword hunting for titbits, then come out again with big smiles on their faces when they've found something they like, is a joy to watch. And in my aquarium, they have a plethora of nooks and crannies to explore, which they do with gay abandon day in, day out.
